For most of us, ‘M’ might be just another letter in the league of the English language; but for BMW, the letter adds a significant touch to the outgoing X1 SAV (Sports Activity Vehicle). Now available in India, the Bavarian car maker has launched the 2015 X1 M-Sport edition priced at Rs 37.9 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). The new variant comes with a range of interior and exterior upgrades, without forgetting to blend in the sporty look of the vehicle.
Upgrades on the new BMW X1 M-Sport edition include new 18-inch alloy wheels, Alpine White and Le Mans Blue colour shade options, revised rear bumper with faux diffuser and underbody treatment fitted with a finished gloss black exhaust pipe along with side skirts and bigger wheel arches to fit the larger wheels. Inside the cabin, there is a new leather wrapped steering wheel hand-stitched in blue and red colours. There are also sporty seats to make things ergonomically sound along with M-badged door sills whereas the headliner finished in Anthracite is available as part of the special edition.
Power comes from a 2.0-litre turbo diesel engine on the BMW X1 M-Sport that produces out 181.4 HP and 380 Nm of torque and is mated to an 8-speed automatic Steptronic transmission driving the rear wheels. The engine has a potential to reach 100 kmph in 7.7 seconds and the gearbox can be controlled via paddle shifters from behind the wheel.
In addition to these sporty features, the BMW X1 is equipped with practical techies such as the dual-zone climate control, the PDC (Park Distance Control) at the rear, and the speed control with braking function, all of which is part of the M Sport package. The BMW M-Sport package is now available on three cars in the country including the X1 sDrive20d M-Sport, 530d M-Sport and X3 xDrive30d M-Sport. The company is working to clear the stocks of the outgoing X1 as the facelifted version is headed its way.
Besides the introduction of the X1 M Sport, BMW has also just launched the 2016 1-Series facelift in India.
