Volvo recently commenced the deliveries of its much awaited SUV – XC90 in India and it looks like the brand has some more great vehicles lined up for a launch in the following months. The Swedish carmaker plans to get the S60 Cross Country to India in the next year, and we expect this fresh upgrade to be costing approximately Rs. 5 lakh more than standard S60 sedan. The S60 CC was first seen at the Detroit Motor Show earlier this year.
The S60 Cross Country is a first of its kind that Volvo has attempted to make, as no other carmaker has developed anything on this platform yet. So practically, this car doesn’t face much competition, which is definitely a great advantage for any automaker. The prime update on this Cross Country is that the four-door sedan’s ride height has been raised by 65 mm over the standard model; thus making it a good city commuter with the functionality of an SUV, which works well in a market like ours. And this is exactly the reason why cars like Duster, Ecosport and S-Cross are gaining much momentum in India.
The new Volvo S60 Cross Country gets some great engine choices that range from a 187 BHP diesel unit to a 250 BHP petrol burner. The car is expected to be offered with front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive as options. We believe that the 2.0-litre diesel unit from the regular S60 will pump 184 BHP mated to an automatic transmission, with power sent to the front wheels; while the D4 model will get a 2.4-litre five-cylinder diesel that churns out 187 BHP. The petrol T5 version will be the top variant that will house a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine generating 250 horses.
Some major tweaks in the new Volvo S60 Cross Country includes the new honeycomb grille, Cross Country embossing at the rear, skid plate along with glossy black ORVMs and Piano black finish inside the cabin with sporty seats. The car will get 18 or 19-inch alloys wheels with high profile tyres for better stability.
