For those with the wallets bigger than the size of Tunisia, the makers of ‘go anywhere in the world’- Land Rover; have come up with something really for you to roll out in style. With the frantic love for SUVs the world has right now and the need to be dolled up in luxury at all times, Land Rover has launched the Range Rover Long Wheelbase (LWB) Autobiography Black edition in India with prices starting at Rs. 3.75 crores (ex-showroom Mumbai).
As the name suggests, the Range Rover Autobiography Black is not for the commons, hell, it ain’t for the affluent either. This bespoke built-to-specification model is part of Land Rover’s ‘Engineered To Order’ division and sports a bit more extra legroom in the second row covered in superior animal hide and a host of exclusive tech on board. Land Rover has extended the wheelbase by an additional 8-inches that adds an extra 5.5-inches of legroom at the rear of the Range Rover.
The rear seats are completely customizable and come with the option of two individual seats at the rear with a centre console in the centre giving you access to tech inside the cabin. Keeping the lap of luxury further comfortable, the rear seats recline up to 17 degrees, adding more legroom and space for the passenger. If you are one of those who need to hide behind the sun blinds and the dark tints to keep yourself hidden from the blinding camera flashes, the Autobiography Black edition also comes loaded with power door blinds and panoramic sunroof.
But that’s not where the exclusivity ends, the Range Rover LWB Autobiography Black edition comes with a 10.2-inch rear seat entertainment system mounted behind the front seats, electrically deployable tables with integrated champagne glass holders and USB connectivity for the viewing those presentations or an occasional movie on the way from the airport. You also get a chiller compartment to keep those fine bottles of wine cool, while there is also mood lighting to please the passenger’s tastes. Covered in the best of leather, the seats feature a bespoke seat cover design and the front seats also come with the massage function with the driver’s seat featuring 18-way adjustability.
Chugging all that luxury on four wheels are two engine options including the 4.4-litre SDV8 diesel engine that punches out 339 HP of power and 740 Nm of torque while the petrol version is powered by the not so humble 5.0-litre Supercharged V8 motor also powering the F-Type and belts out 510 HP of power and 625 Nm of torque. Both the motors are paired to an 8-speed automatic transmission.
On the outside, the Range Rover Autobiography Black differentiates itself with some unique changes that are to solely mention that you’ve arrived in style. The Black edition features a new, uniquely finished front grille and side vents on the front fender, wide rear doors for ease of ingress and egress, chrome detailing on the tailgate, ‘Autobiography’ moniker, then there is what Land Rover calls new ‘signature’ tail lights and the bespoke 21-inch alloy wheels with a high-gloss finish. For almost Rs. 5 crores (on-road), the Range Rover Autobiography Black gives some serious competition to Rolls-Royce and Bentley while also offering a much bigger road presence. That said, would you choose to arrive in style with the Range?
