The new C63 AMG coupe aims to add that tad bit of sleekness and charm that the sedan car lacks. The car is extremely aggressive yet elegant, taking a lot of hints from the S coupe which is simply a charmer. The C63 coupe has a well-designed rear tail light cluster that fits perfectly into well moulded rear end. The gapingly massive front intakes compliment the aggressive front grill. The C63 coupe has a swooping roofline which gives the car its unique character. As a whole the car is spectacular to look at and just oozes AMG DNA.
Powering this beast of a car is the new 4.0 litre bi-turbo V8 which also powers the AMG GT and will come with 470 HP for the standard car or a higher 503 HP in the “C63 S”. This will propel the coupe from 0-100kmph in 3.9 secs and 3.8s for the S model. Mercedes have capped the top speed to 250kmph or 290kmph depending on the specification. Power is put on the road with the help of the slick seven-speed Mercedes AMG speedshift transmission.
The AMG coupe makes all the right noises thanks to a new exhaust flap developed specifically for the coupe. The coupe also gets tweaked suspensions compared to the sedan. The standard C63 coupe would feature a mechanical limited slip differential while the S will feature an electronic one. The interiors on the C63 are the standard Mercedes luxury affair with the hints and accents of carbon fibre. The seats are well shaped and purposeful. The car maintains an air of luxury that is bespoke Mercedes.
The AMG coupe is faster than its sedan cousin and more importantly might just be faster than the BMW M4. This merc will definitely bring some heat to the table. On paper the C63 should triumph the M4 on sheer power but in the real world things aren’t that simple. The C63 definitely brings a refreshing elegance to a brash world of razor sharp cars.
