The 2017 Audi Q5 improves its already successful formula at the Paris Motor Show

The brand new Audi Q5 is here to continue its winning streak with a fresh pinch of zest.

The Audi Q5 is an important model for the German luxury brand, considering that it’s one of their top selling models. Since its debut in 2008, Audi has sold a staggering 1.6 million Q5s worldwide. To get a jump start to 2017, Audi has wasted no time in updating its highly successful crossover SUV to continue their winning streak.

This new car is bigger, better loaded with tech and produces more power. It also inherits the Q7’s sharper design cues. The new Q5 though is far more handsome with its crossover-SUV silhouette. The new radiator grille features more chrome and sits proudly at the vehicle’s nose. There’s an array of all LED headlamps in true Audi fashion. Straighter lines and sharper features help distinguish this new and graceful Q5.

Audi claims that the body is completely brand new and the platform has been thoroughly updated. It sits 90 kg lighter than its predecessor as well. They also claim that the new car would be more silent and civilized to ensure absolutely sumptuous driving experience.
The new Q5 also hosts adaptive suspension dampers and auto levelling air suspension to help with towing applications. It also manipulates the ride height, offering a low setup for efficient aero cruising and a taller setup for higher clearance in off-road environments.

The new Audi Q5 will also be offered as a more affordable front-wheel drive option. The standard All-wheel drive Quattro features a system that cuts off power to the rear wheels for efficient driving and re-engages when there is a need for more traction. The new Q5 is smarter too, featuring an intuitive map that tracks the car’s movements and predicts future trips based on the data to provide possible routes and relevant traffic conditions. A built in 4G-WiFi makes sure the car is completely connected to the world. Apart from the smart map, Audi is claiming to create a network of cars that feed data from their cameras and travel data to offer a “hive” network that offers real-time traffic data and road conditions. Driving aids on the Q5 are fresh and innovative with the likes of auto-steering and speed control for slow speed traffic conditions.

Powering the European spec Q5 would be an array of 4 diesel motors and most likely a lone petrol motor. The base diesel motor would most likely offer around 190 HP and the turbocharged petrol motor offering 252 HP. The Euro press release also mentions a six-speed manual, a seven-speed S-Tronic auto box and an eight-speed auto box.

The new Q5 is a proper lifestyle-SUV and seems like the perfect utility crossover for the adventurous urban folks. We have a feeling that it will continue its dominating streak globally. The Audi Q5 is scheduled for a European launch and it wouldn’t take too long to make an Indian debut as well, considering the fact that Audi has been testing the all-new Q5 on Indian roads since quite some time before its official unveil. We are really excited by its eminent arrival. How do you feel about Audi’s new lifestyle-crossover?
