The Mercedes-AMG cars are supposed to be one of the most stylish, beautiful and elegant sports cars ever conceived. The C43 is pretty much exemplary in that regard, and not only does it uphold the respect gained by the 1997 C43, but is also an extremely performance oriented and power wielding iteration. The 2017 Mercedes-AMG C43 Coupe is sandwiched between the C300 and the C63 AMG, thus offering you a range of gullible attractions that gives you a taste of both! If you want some more power than the C300 Coupe to play around, but you don’t really need an insanely mad beast such as the C63, Mercedes has now solved the problem with the C43 Coupe.
The earlier 6-cylinder AMG models were termed as 450 Sport, such as the last year’s C450 Sport Sedan. But now, Mercedes-Benz and AMG decided to sell the cars under the resurrected 43 name that was first used in 1997 on the C43 AMG by the German manufacturer, and lets go of the 450 Sport name in the process. “The extension of the C-Class family to include the C43 4MATIC Coupe is another component in our growth strategy. It starts the introduction of a whole series of new 43 models,” Mercedes-AMG Chairman Tobias Moers said.
This baby is rocketed by a 3.0 litre twin-turbocharged V6 engine, coupled to a 9-speed automatic. The power yielded falls in the mathematical figures of 360 HP at 6000 rpm and 520 Nm at 2000 rpm. Something that you wouldn’t have expected, is that the C43 AMG is not a RWD. It comes with the much famous 4MATIC system of Mercedes. All this makes it conducive for the C43 to reach 100 kmph in just about 4.6 seconds. 250 kmph is the controlled upper limit, to which you can vroom this sweet ride! Huge internally vented 14.2-inch (front) and 12.6-inch (rear) compound brake discs bring this coupe to a halt, from some high speeds very efficiently, thanks to the 18-inch alloys and excellent grippy tires.
New steering knuckles and load-bearing joints have enhanced the performance and ride comfort. The 4-MATIC steering system adds a cherry on the cake by providing C43 AMG owners some excellent control. The insides are impeccable, with microfiber leather stitched in red and AMG logos embedded in it. And, as usual to impress the gadget freaks, they have included a Burmester audio system, a panoramic sunroof, blind-spot assist, LED headlamps, heated seats, and a backup camera to keep your eyes on the road.
Set to hit the markets in 2016, all in all this is a pretty impressive piece of machinery!
