The McLaren MSO HS is the Devil’s new track toy

The McLaren Special Operations has given birth to yet another sinister road racer in the form of the aggressive HS based on the 675LT.

The McLaren Special Operations program was essentially developed to produce one-off racers that are tailored to a customer’s bespoke requirements. More recently, they’ve decided to tinker with their road cars and the McLaren MSO HS is the result. The ‘HS’ stands for High Sport and is a 675 LT/650S series chassis that has been lightened, tuned and blessed with an enormous wing.

The body-work features updated aero elements that are garnished with carbon fibre. The new updated front splitter merges well with the aggressive front intakes giving the car a purposeful and race-bred appeal. The bonnet and the roof are also gloss carbon fibre. The body panels are fresh and along with new carbon skirts, a carbon rear diffuser helps in keeping the weight in check. All these elements complement that gigantic rear spoiler to give this new McLaren a far angrier demeanor.

Powering the McLaren MSO HS is the 3.8-litre twin-turbo charged V8 that has been tuned to a hellish 680 HP and 700 Nm of torque. The numbers add up to a ridiculously fast track bred car. To keep the car as light as possible the HS features a titanium forged exhaust system and the P1’s gorgeous carbon fibre race seats that save 15 kg. McLaren gives you the option to spec the seats in Alcantara, an additional feature definitely worth investing in. A four-point harness system keeps you snug in the seat and the McLaren Track telemetry (MTT) hints at the car’s track pedigree.

The new McLaren MSO HS is a limited run car and sadly all 25 have been sold at an unknown price tag. Expect bespoke customization options on each car, courtesy the MSO division lads. The P1 GTR now has a worthy younger sibling.
