    List of Premium Cars that will be showcased at the 2016 Auto Expo

    Whether you are a die-hard auto enthusiast or not; you will definitely admire the lure of any premium car. There’s something about these high-end four-wheelers that makes us drool, makes us wish we were one of the lucky few who get to own them. And with the same feeling, there will be thousands of people present at the 2016 Delhi Auto Expo. With the Auto Expo just a few days away, let’s take a look at all the premium cars that will make people’s heads turn, categorized according to their makers:

    1) AUDI

    -> The new R8

    Audi R8

    Audi is showcasing a host of its 2016 cars, and the one that people are waiting for the most is the R8. A naturally aspirated 5.2-litre V10 engine powers this beast, that has two output specifications: One producing 540 HP, and the more powerful V10 plus variant, that pumps out a mammoth 610 HP. It is available only in the coupe variant, for now.

    -> The new A4

    Next up is the new A4. It is packed with a new MMI touch-screen interface, a 12.3 inch LCD screen, & a Bang and Olufsen Sound System with 3D surround-sound. It is expected to cost around Rs. 38-40 lakhs and will be launched in the first half of 2016.

    -> The 2016 Audi Q7

    The major highlight of the new Q7 is its massive weight reduction over its predecessor. The 2016 Audi Q7 is powered by the same 3.0-litre TDI with 272 HP, as well as a variant with 3.0-liter supercharged V-6 with 333 horsepower. Pretty sweet, eh?

    -> A8L Security

    Finally, the Audi A8L Security, which comes with VR 9 ballistic resistance. The car can absorb 7.62 x 51mm ammunition, which is the same projectile fired from the belt-fed M60 machine gun. Incredible!

     

    2) BMW

    -> The all-new 7-series

    BMW 7 Series

    The 2016 iteration of the 7-series takes cue from the Vision Future Luxury concept in terms of the design. It houses a 320 HP 3.0-litre turbo inline-six engine, although there’s also the option of a 445 HP 4.4-litre twin-turbo V8.

    -> 3-Series facelift

    The 3-series facelift has been recently launched in India at Rs. 35.9 lakhs and is currently available only with a single diesel engine. This engine is a 2.0-litre four-cylinder, that gives 190 HP while developing 400 Nm of torque.

    -> 2016 BMW X1

    BMW X1

    The 2016 BMW X1 is lighter than its predecessor by approximately 65 pounds, and can go from 0 to 100 kmph in 6.5 seconds, and top speed is around 230 kmph. But the highlight here is the shift from RWD to FWD, as well as the platform sharing with the Mini Countryman.

     

    3) FORD

    -> The 2016 Ford Mustang

    One of the biggest showcases of the Expo, the Ford Mustang finally arrives in India. It has been officially unveiled in Delhi on 28th Jan. The most powerful variant is the 5.0-litre V8 that gives an output of 429 BHP. The Mustang looks modern in every sense of the word – Simply beautiful. Expected to start around Rs. 65 lakhs with the base variant, this one is not short of admirers.

     

    4) CHEVROLET

    -> Chevy Corvette

    The Chevrolet Corvette needs no introduction. One of the showstoppers of the expo, the iconic car is the favourite of many, and is guaranteed to be one of the biggest draws.

    -> The 2016 Camaro

    The 2016 Chevrolet Camaro is powered by a base V6 engine that produces 335 HP and 385 Nm of torque, while the peak 6.2-litre V8 engine pumps out 455 HP.
    Stylish and powerful, The Camaro is out for shedding some Mustang blood at the Auto Expo.

     

    5) HONDA

    -> Ninth-generation Accord

    Honda Accord

    The Accord is one of Honda’s favourite Sedan in the country. The latest Accord features a 2.4-litre four-cylinder engine and a 3.5-litre V6 variant. Both the options might be available with a five-speed automatic and manual transmission.

    -> McLaren Honda MP4-30

    Honda will also showcase the McLaren Honda MP4-30 race car. The MP4-30 was a Formula One racing car driven by Fernando Alonso and Jenson Button for McLaren to compete in the 2015 season.

    6) JAGUAR

    –> The all-new Jaguar XE

    Jaguar XE

    The Jaguar XE was awarded the “Most Beautiful Car of 2014” at the Festival Automobile International, held in Paris. Do we need to say anything else? This one is sure to give the likes of Mercedes-Benz C-Class, BMW 3-Series, Volvo S60, and Audi A4 a run for their money.

    -> The new Jaguar XF

    The 2016 XF is built on JLR’s new aluminium architecture. That means, the car comprises 75% aluminium and is 190 kgs lighter than the previous XF that it replaces. Engine options will include the 160 & 176 BHP 4-cylinder, 2.0-litre Ingenium diesels, a 3.0 litre V6 diesel with 294 BHP on offer, a 2.0 litre 235 bhp turbocharged petrol, and the 333 & 372 bhp supercharged V6 petrols.

    ->The F-Pace

    The F-Pace is one of the biggest showcases of the Expo. Expected to launch by the end of 2016, it features a standard 340-hp supercharged V6 or an optional 380-hp supercharged V6.

     

    7) JEEP

    -> Wrangler Unlimited

    The iconic SUV maker is finally stepping into Indian territory in the Auto Expo by launching the Wrangler, for starters. The Wrangler runs on a 3.6-litre V6 24-Valve VVT engine that will make 275 BHP of max power and peak torque of 359 Nm. It looks stunning and should capture the heart of Indian auto lovers.

    -> Grand Cherokee

    Jeep updated its Grand Cherokee model for 2016 with an improved efficiency for the V6 engine, primarily through electric power steering with customizable settings. It can equip a peak 20-inch tire, and is a smooth blend of ruggedness and beauty.

    -> Grand Cherokee SRT

    Jeep Cherokee SRT

    The monstrous Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT will roll out with a SRT 6.4-litre HEMI V8 engine. The power plant on this beast does 475 BHP and a max torque of 644 Nm. Some insane numbers here!

    -> Renegade

    Jeep Renegade

    The imported Jeep Renegade has a 2.0-litre, turbocharged MJD 2 diesel engine under the hood. No manual transmission option is expected and Jeep is likely to pair the engine with a 9-speed automatic transmission. Not expected to be launched in India before 2017. Bummer!

     

    8) MERCEDES-BENZ

    ->The new GLC

    The GLC300 is one of the few cars that are being launched at the Expo and not just showcased. GLC300 is powered by a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine that produces 241 HP and 370 Nm of torque.

    -> S-Class Cabriolet

    Mercedes S Class Cabriolet

    The S-Class Cabriolet is a perfect blend of luxury and performance. The S63 features a 577 BHP twin-turbocharged 5.5-litre V8 engine and is expected to be launched sometime this year.

    -> S600 Guard

    Already launched last year, the S600 guard costs a whopping Rs. 8.9 crores. Mercedes’ answer to the Audi A8L Security, it can withstand ballistic effects from a 0.45 magnum pistol to even an AK47 rifle, while also being immune to hand grenade attacks and land mines. Insane!

    ->AMG F1 W06 Hybrid

    The Mercedes F1 W06 Hybrid is a highly successful F1 racing car designed by Mercedes-Benz to compete in the 2015 F1 season. It pumps out 800 HP and features an eight-speed forward plus an additional reverse transmission.

    -> The GLE

    We get 2 options for the GLE – The 250d MATIC packs an in-line 4 cylinder that churns out 204 HP and 500 Nm of torque, while the 350d MATIC features a V6 engine with an output of 258 HP and 620 Nm of torque.

    -> Mercedes-Benz GLS

    For the Indian market, the GLS350d 4MATIC will be available and features a 3.0-litre V6 turbo engine that is mated to nine-speed automatic transmission and produces 255 BHP and 616 Nm of torque.

     

    9) NISSAN

    -> X-Trail

    The Nissan X-Trail was supposed to be launched earlier, but due to some internal reasons, it will now be launched at the Auto Expo. It features a 1.6-litre R9M diesel engine, as well as a 2.0-litre petrol variant.

    -> The Godzilla – GT-R

    2016 Nissan GT-R NISMO

    One of the biggest attractions of the Auto Expo, the GT-R is a rocket on 4 wheels. This car is truly the dream of every Indian Supercar enthusiast. A 545 HP, twin-turbo V6 engine powers this supercar. The NISMO version of the GT-R houses 600 HP. Crazy!

    -> Nissan Patrol

    The Nissan Patrol is an off-road beast, featuring a 5.6-litre V8 engine that produces 400 HP and 560 Nm of torque. It is equipped with a rear view camera and has a 3500 kg braked towing capacity.

     

    10) Land Rover

    -> Evoque Convertible

    Range Rover Evoque Convertible

    A convertible CUV? Hell yes! The fully automated roof stows in 18 seconds, and can be raised in 21 seconds, at speeds up to 45 kmph. It packs a 240 HP turbocharged four-cylinder engine and nine-speed automatic transmission.

    -> Range Rover SVAutobiography

    Land Rover SV

    The beastly SVAutobiography (a beast not just in name!) is a luxury SUV that is anything but shy under the hood. Powered by a 550 HP 5.0-litre supercharged V8 engine, it boasts a top speed of 224 kmph. It features 20-way power front seats and a 1700-watt, 29-speaker Meridian sound system. Perfect, right?

     

    11) Volkswagen

    -> Tiguan

    Volkswagen Tiguan

    The current Volkswagen Tiguan’s 200 HP four-turbo engine will be replaced by a more powerful four-turbo that also helps increase efficiency. Braking at 112 Kmph takes an impressive 155 feet. As a result, the new iteration of the Tiguan is a massive improvement over its predecessor.

    -> Passat GTE

    Set to rival the Volvo S60 Plug-In Hybrid and BMW 340e, the new Passat GTE is an environmentally responsible plug-in hybrid that can cover 50km in all-electric driving. It sports a specially tuned version of Volkswagen’s turbocharged 1.4-litre four-cylinder petrol engine that develops 164bhp and 249 Nm of torque.

    -> Polo GTI

    Set to launch this March, the GTI comes with a 1.8-litre, four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine producing a peak 189 BHP and torque of 250 Nm, mated to a seven-speed DSG transmission, while the manual transmissions offers 320 Nm. The GTI boasts to go from 0 to 100 kmph in 6.7 seconds, and the top speed is 236 kmph.

     

    12) TOYOTA

    -> The all-new Fortuner

    The new Fortuner will be available in three variants – G, SRZ and VRZ – coupled with both 4WD (four-wheel drive) and 2WD (two-wheel drive) systems. While the G and VRZ trims will be offered with a 2.4-litre 2GD-FTV diesel engine, the SRZ trim will come with a 2.7-litre 2TR-FE petrol motor. Expected to launch by the end of the year.

     

    13) Fiat-Abarth

    -> Abarth Linea

    Although not much has been known about the Abarth Linea as of now, according to rumours it features the same 1.4-litre T-JET turbocharged petrol engine that is present in the Abarth Punto and Abarth Avventura. The engine in Linea is likely to make 140 BHP of power and 212 Nm of torque mated to five-speed manual transmission. The Abarth Linea is expected to launch in the first half of 2016.
