For all the Rear Wheel Drive lovers out there, Italian carmaker Lamborghini has officially launched the Huracan LP580-2 in India at a whopping price of Rs. 2.99 crores (ex-showroom, Delhi). While it may not be the fastest Lamborghini on sale, it will be the most fun to drive for sure offering some sideways action. The pleasing part however, is the fact that the Sant’Agata Bolognese based manufacturer has introduced the LP-580-2 just days after the global launch. Kudos Lambo!
Switching from its standard AWD technology, the Lamborghini Huracan LP580-2 is a special variant. The LP580-2 is all about the handling and enjoying the rear wheel drive fun. It’s not always about the speed; sometimes it’s about that feeling of controlling the car by its tail, that really makes a difference. What more do you want now, when you’ve got a sliding Huracan?
580 BHP and 540 Nm, a little lesser than its AWD counterpart is what the LP580-2 produces through the same V10 motor mated to a Lamborghini Doppia Frizione (LDF) 7-speed dual clutch architecture, that ensures fastest gear changes and includes launch control for maximum acceleration right from zero.
The electronic power steering and optional Lamborghini Dynamic Steering (LDS) have been tuned to improve the car’s agility and controllability. This has had a positive effect on the car’s overall weight by reducing it to 1388 kg, 33 kg lesser than the AWD. Apart from this, Lamborghini has restyled the design, sported by the LP580-2. The new and humble look highlights its aerodynamic design. The result of a close collaboration between the Centro Stile designers and Lamborghini’s aerodynamic experts have made each element of the beauty so attractive that once you drive in the automobile around town, you would not leave it for anything else.
Fun comes with options in this Huracan. The ANIMA (Adaptive Network Intelligent Management) button on the steering wheel allows the driver to adopt different driving modes, recalibrated to suit the spirit of the rear-wheel drive model. STRADA, for daily use, provides a slight understeering feedback and is traction-oriented. SPORT is for sporty and emotional driving fun with a slight oversteering behaviour; and CORSA, ensures maximum performance in track mode, providing a neutral steering behaviour.
Weight is distributed with a ratio of 40% at the front and 60% at the rear, reducing inertia on the front axle. An entirely new power management is set-up, encompassing stiffer suspension, new steering set-up for more precise turning. Recalibrated stability and traction controls keep the driver in sync with the fast moving landscape that zooms past him. You get to drive around in 19-inch Pirelli PZero wheels, and push this beast from nought to 100 kmph in just 3.4 seconds. Obviously, no one is going to restrict you from taking it to its limits, 320 kmph (except traffic police). The perfect way to continue the Gallardo’s legacy? Maybe, just maybe!
