Ever experienced someone doing something so unusual, but doing it so well, that it leaves you speechless?
That was exactly what we thought when we first saw the Jaguar F-Pace.
This jungli billi has been making sexy supercars and glorious luxury cars since decades. So, when the British automaker decided to step into the SUV territory, it raised quite a few eyebrows. But, as soon as you lay your eyes on the result of this surprising move, you will realise that the first ever production SUV from Jaguar, is more-than-capable to stun the whole world. The F-Pace brings the brand’s trademark gorgeous and athletic looks to the SUV market. Having been revealed a few months back, the Tata-owned, British marque’s first ever SUV made its Indian debut at the Auto Expo 2016. Let’s take a closer look at the F-Pace and see whether Jaguar will woo the Indians with this one or not.
The F-Pace is simply the most stunning SUV out there. (And no, we haven’t forgotten the Porsche Macan.) It is in sync with the athletic styling and futuristic design, that is a part of Jaguar’s current range. The headlights, for instance, carry the signature ‘J’ Blade design, which can also be found on the all-new XE and the 2016 XF. The F-Pace is the third product to be carved out of Jaguar’s new light aluminium architecture. Styling is heavily inspired by the C-X17 concept, which was presented back in 2013. With its low, sleek roof and bold lines, the F-Pace does genuinely look sporty without being polarizing or too mental. The front profile is styled off the new XF, while the rear profile appears to be an F-Type with muscles.
On the inside, the F-Pace comes standard with an 8-inch InControl infotainment system, a 5-inch multi-info display and 825 watt Jaguar Sound System coupled to 17 speakers. You can also opt for the state of the art 10.2-inch InControl touch Pro unit with 10 GB of internal memory and it will house a lot of your car’s manual controls, if you’re willing to shell out the money.
Jaguar gives you the option of both Rear Wheel Drive(RWD) and All Wheel Drive(AWD) for your F-Pace. As far as the Indian market is concerned, there will be two engine options available. One is an all-new 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder turbocharged diesel Ingenium engine, which can produce 177 HP. The other one is a powerful 3.0-litre, V6 diesel engine, that churns out 296 HP and 700 Nm of torque. The engines are mated to an extremely smooth eight-speed automatic transmission.
Jaguar India will offer 4 variants of the F-Pace, namely, Pure, Prestige, R-Sport and First Edition. The Pure Variant houses 18-inch alloy wheels and the Prestige variant features a rear view camera in addition to the 18-inch wheels. On the other hand, the R-Sport and First Edition boasts of 19 and 20-inch wheels respectively.
With emphasis on sportiness, performance, luxury and style; the F-Pace will have a battle on its hands with the new Porsche Macan (and the cat will most likely win it). The upcoming GLC, Audi Q5, BMW X5 and the Range Rover Evoque are also its competitors on paper. But the F-Pace has it all, to take on these giants head-on.
For us, this is the one!
