Everyone and everything we see around us, has a purpose, for which they have been bestowed upon this planet. For example; Luxury limos were created to spoil you with the finest craftsmanship and wrap you in lavishness. Sportscars were introduced to this world, to cater to the petrolheads’ “Need for speed”.
And normally, things aren’t expected to deliver more than what they’re made for.
But, what would happen, when a car which is a “pinnacle of luxury”, goes faster than a sports car, which was once deemed to be the “most dangerous car to buy” because of its high speeds? Does that really shift the axis of Earth?
As our friend, the Joker would say – “Offer some luxury in a performance car, and no one bats an eye. But offer beastly performance in a luxury car, and everybody loses their minds!”
And that’s exactly what BMW has done, to leave the world speechless, with its latest iteration to the fleet of its luxury limousine: the M760Li xDrive V12.
This Beemer houses a massive TwinPower (twin-turbocharged) 6.6-litre V12 petrol engine, which is capable of producing a staggering 600HP, and a surprisingly healthy 800 Nm of torque, placing it ahead of a Lamborghini Aventador (690 Nm) and Ferrari F12 (705 Nm). It is coupled to a ZF-sourced eight-speed automatic gearbox. With a surprisingly quick sprint from 0 to 100 kmph in just 3.9 seconds, the M760Li beats the timing of a Porsche 911 Carrera 4S (by a tenth of a second).
Since the M760Li has the blood of an M-car running in its veins, its performance is obviously exhilarating. But, because all that extravaganza comes packed in the body of a luxurious 7-Series, it would give you a lot more room when you’re resting at the back seat after a long day of dragging against American Muscle cars. The air suspension of the M760Li, consisting of air springs with Dynamic Damper Control and Dynamic Drive helps you toggle between Performance and Comfort settings of the car by reducing the roll or increasing the tension. The BMW style treatment and the trimmings in Merino leather ought to entice your senses to the fullest.
The 250 kmph speed bar can be raised to 330 kmph, if you decide to move to Europe, which is otherwise electronically limited. Speaking of electronics, the numbers of electronic gadgets that will overwhelm you, doesn’t really have a limit. An in-car Samsung tablet is provided, which lets you control everything from what’s on the radio to the colour of the lighting. A gesture control feature has been integrated with the infotainment system which helps you relax in those super-comfy seats (that will massage you as you drive) without trying to reach out to any buttons on the dashboard. And if the number of touchscreen devices inside the car isn’t enough for you, then you even get a key with its own touchscreen. The car also boasts of exterior cameras which scans the environment and the road ahead, and accordingly tweaks the suspension settings.
To sum up, the BMW M760Li xDrive V12 is a car that has mind-boggling performance (much better than your average sportscar); it has every luxury that you can ever dream of; it has delightful interiors along with aggressive exteriors that are complemented by the “M” badges and the “V12” emblems.
We literally couldn’t ask for anything more from BMW. They have really set a whole new benchmark right here!
Good luck, Audi S8 Plus and Mercedes-Benz S65 AMG.
