The Raging Bull is now getting bigger in size.
Lamborghini is all set to enter the worldwide SUV market with its much talked about – Urus model, that was seen in the year 2012 as a concept. The crowd went gaga wolrdwide, on hearing that the sportscar giant Lamborghini has made a concept SUV. It was not sure whether this model would hit the production floors, due to instability of the European Economy, but with support from the Italian government, the car will be made at the Lamborghini’s headquarters in Sant’Agata Bolognese. And Lamborghini is visibly very serious about the Urus, as they have stalled all other plans to make this SUV a reality.
The company aims to make the Urus a practical machine that can be used everyday in all conditions. Technically, the car is till under development stage as the company is yet to finalize the design aspects. The Urus will be based on Audi Q7/Bentley Bentayga structure, which has been confirmed. The car will share a lot of design cues from the concept on the outside, but from the inside, it will be at par compared to any Lamborghini made till date. The prime focus of Lamborghini on this model is the comfort and driveability of the car, and not its speed.
Physically, the car is 4990 mm in length, 1990 mm in width and 1660 mm in height. The engine of the Urus is not confirmed yet, but it will get a motor that will churn out around 600 horses. It is expected that the production version will come with a plug-in hybrid powertrain. It will be a modified version of Audi’s new twin-turbo 4.0-litre V8, which is planted in the new S6, S7 and S8, along with an electric motor.
Power delivery will be through a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox and torque-sensing Torsen four-wheel drive system with an electronically operated Torque Vectoring System. Thus, Urus will be a 4×4 which will behave like an SUV in all respects, but also carry the Lamborghini muscle in it. It will compete head-to-head with the X6 M series.
