Mercedes-Benz is working on the S63 Convertible that is the drop-top version of the S-Class coupe that very recently made its India debut. The German car maker will be losing the top on its S-Class Coupe after a span of 44 years and the new model is slated to make its debut at the 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show next month. As it is with all Mercedes models, the S63 will also be given the AMG treatment for a high revving performance friendly version with a sportier body kit.
Seen in the video is the Mercedes-AMG S-class Convertible and showcases some great muscle with its aggressive body kit and quad exhausts. As seen in the S63 AMG Coupe and sedan models, the Convertible is expected to come with a 5.5-liter V8 Bi-Turbo petrol motor pumping out 577 BHP and 900 Nm torque that will send power to the rear wheels using the AMG SpeedShift MCT 7-speed transmission. There will be a four-wheel driven version as well keeping power levels stuck to the surface.
Mercedes-Benz is also working on an S63 AMG variant of its new convertible offering that will house the mammoth of a 6.0-litre V12 Twin-Turbo petrol engine churning out some mean 621 BHP and a monstrous 1000 Nm of peak torque enough to push your heart in the backseat if not flying through off. The new convertible AMGs will be kitted up with all the AMG bits including the sportier bumpers, side skirts, rear diffuser, AMG quad exhausts and the very stylish alloy wheels. The convertible will also be heavier over the coupe version with the chassis strengthened for safety to compensate for the absence of the roof.
The 2017 Mercedes S-Class Convertible will compete with the open top models like the Bentley Continental GTC and the upcoming Rolls Royce Dawn cabriolet. Considering this is the S-class soft top, it will surely offer every bit of luxury that we get to see in a regular one.
