Ferrari is a huge name in the luxury auto world and so the billionaires who do buy these exotics expect it to get better and better day by day. Keeping this in mind, the Italian manufacturer plans to revamp its complete lineup of cars starting with the base California coupe. The next generation Ferrari California is expected arrive in 2017 and could be the first car from the automaker to use a new modular architecture.
It is easily understood that the new modular architecture will be compatible to create a front-engined or mid-engined cars. The main question now arises as to which other models will get this platform. Ferrari wishes to offer the car in a much sportier look as compared to the on-going ones. Talking about the heart of the prancing horse, it is expected to come to life with a smaller 2.9-litre turbocharged in a 120 degree V configuration and will help it to get the maximum juice out of this motor.
With ‘Ferrari’ making a car, it won’t compromise on power and performance and this unit is something that can turn out 600 horses. This engine down-sizing can be seen as a potential towards reducing the costs of the car, bringing the brand closer to a wider set of buyers who have a Ferrari on their wish-list. Talking about the other models, Ferrari’s iconic Dino could make a comeback based on the new modular platform with Fiat Chairman Marchionne taking charge of the operations.
This time though, the Ferrari Dino will have a premium price tag positioned above the California. The automaker will also be introducing new changes to its other models as well with the Ferrari FF getting full-length gullwing doors (yes all the 4 doors), as seen in the Nanoflowcell car. Its front and rear overhangs will be shortened. It will be really interesting to see how this concept of gullwing doors compliments the FF.
The Ferrari F12 Berlinetta will also be in the list which will get several tweaks but no major changes are expected. Last but not the least, the LaFerrarina could be the new flagship positioned below the LaFerrari as a less aggressive supercar, minus the hybrid platform and all that electric gizmo. There are chances that the LaFerrari will be revealed at Ferrari’s 70th anniversary in 2017. The best part, all of these will make it to India eventually.
