The chocolate boy of the SUV world, the Range Rover Evoque has always had a special place amongst the premium urban folk undoubtedly for its smoldering looks that sent some of the iconic models back to the drawing board. Launched in 2011, the Evoque has been a popular offering globally and was updated earlier this year as part of a mid-lifecycle update. Now, Land Rover India has officially introduced the 2016 Range Rover Evoque priced at Rs. 47.1 lakhs (ex-showroom Mumbai, pre-Octroi) with a host of feature upgrades.
The good looking Range Rover Evoque gets better with the 2016 edition with a tweaked front fascia that gets the very noticeable new adaptive LED lights with integrated daytime running lights, a revised bumper with larger air intakes and a comprehensively updated grille, all of which lend a fresh new look to the luxury SUV. The sides remain the same except for the new alloy wheel design and the rear gets a new tailgate mounted spoiler and revised graphics for the LED tail lights.
Things get interesting inside the cabin of the 2016 Range Rover Evoque with new upholstered seats, an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system and new door casings. Land Rover has incorporated its the All-Terrain Progress Control (ATPC) system from the bigger models while safety features are in abundance with electronic aids such as lane-keeping assist system, autonomous emergency braking system, attention assist estimation system.
The new Range Rover Evoque is also available with optional 17 Speakers 825 Watts Meridian TM Surround Sound system and rear seat entertainment. You also get a head up display (HUD) and surround camera system while the powered gesture tailgate system is an interesting addition and one of our favourites. Other features include the revised instrument cluster, leather-wrapped steering wheel and a fixed panoramic sunroof.
The 2016 Evoque is powered by the same 2.2-litre turbocharged diesel engine tuned to produce 18 of power and 420Nm of torque. Power is transmitted to all wheels via a ZF 9-speed automatic gearbox with the All-Wheel Drive system offered as standard. Land Rover is offering the locally assembled new Evoque in a total of four variants – Pure, SE, HSE and HSE Dynamic while the new prices undercut the previous model by a good Rs. 1 lakh. The automaker is also offering a 3 year/1 lakh km warranty period and a 3 year service plan. With over 125 bookings already received, the new Evoque is surely to take the segment by storm much to the discomfort of the Germans.
