Luxury car maker Bentley is putting its best foot forward with the upcoming Bentayga SUV that will rival the Land Rover Range Rover Autobiography a full blown uber luxurious SUV. This is the first SUV from the brand and will roll out in 2016. Engine options on the Bentayga include the mammoth of a W12, V8 and plug-in hybrid options. The company plans to bring the hybrid version to the roads after a year of launching the conventionally powered versions. A host of features from the concept version will make it to the production spec model and Bentley is eyeing the title of the ‘fastest SUV’ when the Bentayga goes on sale. Like 0-100 kmph in under 5 seconds, that fast.

These spy shots of the Bentley Bentayga is seen getting a set of 10 spoke alloys and chrome finished twin exhausts. The flagship SUV is under the final testing phase and spy shots of the car without camouflage have been doing the rounds on the internet for a while. You can see larger air intakes near the fog lights that will be pushing in more air to the engine. There will also be a panoramic sunroof on offer while the SUV stance is accentuated by roof rails. The spy shots reveal a very different SUV from the concept because the SUV has been made from scratch for improved aerodynamics and gets strong shoulder lines thereby supporting better stability at high speeds.

In fact, Bentley has already showcased the SUV to select members of the media and potential customers while sales will commence somewhere in early 2016 across Europe. The Bentayga can be easily identified as a Bentley with the iconic grille and twin round headlamps. The speedometer limit on the SUV stops at a breathtaking 320 kmph that surely shows that the company has made a huge effort to make this an insanely fast piece of machinery.

Power will come from an all-new W12 TSI engine which will be the most technically advanced 12-cylinder engine in the world and is said to belt out around 542 BHP and 700 Nm of torque. Features on the Bentayga will include Touch-sensitive driving mode selector, engine start button, driver’s display, an advanced night-view assistance package as well as a multi-function instrument cluster display, adding up to the luxurious experience of driving this SUV. Based on the MLB platform that also underpins the Audi Q7, the Bentayga is expected will be produced at Bentley’s Crewe plant in the UK. Will it come to India? We keep our fingers eagerly crossed.
