Earlier this year, Audi made a grand entry with launching its TT Coupe in India and it now seems that the TT brand is just going to be expanded with a new variant. Rumour has it that Audi India is planning to introduce the TT Roadster in the country most likely next year and we expect the price tag to be a bit higher than the coupe expected around Rs. 65 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi). Like the coupe, the TT Raodster will arrive in India as a CBU model.
The 2016 Audi TT Roadster is already present in the global market and the automaker recently filed a patent for the TT Roadster in India keeping the possibility of launching the model open. The new Roadster is nearly 4-metres in length, 1.8 metres in width and 1.3 metres in height. The convertible gets a black soft-top that can be opened or closed at speeds up to 50 kmph with the entire process complete in just 10 seconds.
The 2016 Audi TT Roadster is powered by a single engine option which is a 2.0-litre turbocharged TFSI petrol motor that munches out 220 HP of power and 350 Nm torque, mated to a 6-speed S-Tronic transmission. Audi also provides their Quattro All-Wheel Drive system as standard on the Roadster overseas. The TT convertible is pretty similar to its Coupe version in all respects and the car hits a 0-100 kmph in just 5.6 seconds with the top speed at 209 kmph.
The TT Roadster gets a lot of technology elements like the Audi’s Virtual Cockpit, MMI touch infotainment system, 12-way adjustable heated front seats, a 9-speaker audio system, automatic LED headlights, heated mirrors and an adaptive rear spoiler. Safety tech includes dual front, side and knee airbags; traction and stability control systems and electronic brake-pressure distribution to take care of the safety aspects of the car and its occupants. The India launch can only be expected next year.
