2015 Audi Q3 Price (ex-showroom, Delhi) – Rs. 28,99,000/-
It came, it saw and it conquered! Well that’s how the Audi India made waves in the premium compact SUV space back in 2011 when it launched the Q3 in the country and the very capable vehicle has had a strong run ever since. Audi’s most affordable offering at one time, the Q3 had the right styling and capabilities to be referred to as an SUV. However, with the Mercedes GLA here now, the Q3 was starting to look mundane and before things went awry, the Ingolstadt maker made some changes to its most affordable SUV calling it the 2015 Q3 facelift and has now launched it in India with prices starting at Rs. 28.99 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi). With a host of updates on offer, here is everything you need to know about the new Q3 facelift.
On the outset, it is the front fascia that has received a dramatic upgrade and is now more in-line with the new generation Audi Q7 and the TT sports coupe. The SUV features a new single-frame hexagonal grille that is also larger in size. The headlight cluster is sharper and gets the new pattern Audi’s signature LED daytime running lights while the internal lamps have been upgraded to LEDs as well for the top variants. The front bumper is subtly revised and comes with larger air intakes. Moving to the side profile, the Q3 facelift retains its existing silhouette but comes with new alloy wheels. The rear too sports minimal updates save for the revised bumper and the dynamic turn signals integrated into the tail light cluster. There are also three new colours on offer.
Inside the cabin, the 2015 Audi Q3 facelift has retained the layout from the existing model but gets new 3D aluminium finished inlays replacing the wood inserts, while the beige and black finish lends a sporty and airy feel to the cabin. A noteworthy addition are the air-con vents for the second row passengers on the facelift, a segment first. Coming to that highly updated equipment list, the 2015 Q3 gets a revised 3-spoke steering wheel, an updated instrument cluster, updated MMI system Audi sound system and satellite navigation. The premium compact SUV also gets 20 GB hard drive storage facility, 2 SD card slots and a new mobile phone holder with a charger in the front arm-rest that also gets a signal booster. Other interesting bits include the rear-view camera with dynamic guidelines on all trims and a panoramic sunroof that makes the cabin appear larger.
Coming to the heart of the matter, Audi has launched the Q3 facelift only with the 2.0-litre diesel engine at present which gets no changes and continues to produce 177 HP at 4200 RPM and 380 Nm of torque between 1750-2500 RPM, paired to a 7-speed S Tronic transmission that sends power to all four wheels via the Quattro system. The SUV is capable of doing the 0-100 kmph run in 8.2 seconds and has a top speed of 212 kmph. No slouch here, we would say. Even with the impressive figures, the Q3 is frugal by luxury standards and returns an ARAI certified 15.73 kmpl.
Competing with Mercedes GLA and the BMW X1 in the segment, the Audi Q3 facelift certainly packs a lot more this time and is in a mood to gun down everything that will come in its path to reclaim its position in the segment. Should you be impressed? Oh Yes!
