The world renowned Swedish Manufacturer has launched their flagship SUV in India – the Volvo XC90 T8 Excellence, which features a plug-in hybrid drivetrain.
Volvo has gone the whole nine yards with their latest SUV. The newly launched XC90 T8 Excellence is their range-topping SUV and will feature a hybrid drivetrain along with uber-luxurious features to entice the discerning Indian customer.
Powering the new XC90 Excellence is Volvo’s T8 hybrid drivetrain that features a 2.0-litre four cylinder petrol engine that is supercharged and turbocharged. The engine works synchronously with an electric motor that is powered by a 9.2 kWh lithium-ion battery. The net result is a staggering output of 407 HP and 640 Nm of torque. Power is transmitted to the wheels via an 8-speed automatic gearbox.
The XC90 Excellence uses a complex AWD system to transfer power to the road. The car is built on Volvo’s Modular Scalable Product Architecture. This being a Volvo, safety standards are at its highest by default, and this new car hosts a bunch of safety features that probably make it the safest SUV in the world. Electronic aids work in unison with the safety assists to make the experience even more surreal. They’ve gone to the length of offering Pirelli’s Noise cancelling tyres to keep the cabin as silent as possible.
Volvo is offering the XC90 Excellence package that includes a host of extravagant features that garnish this SUV’s interior. There are individual electronically adjustable recliner rear seats. They also feature massage and ventilation functions. There are multiple illuminated storage areas along with a refrigerator with bottle and glass holders and foldable tables.
A retractable touch screen is accessible to the rear passengers. The leather instrument panel features distinct and contrasting stitching patterns giving a bespoke feel to the car. A Bower & Wilkins augmented audio system should keep passengers entertained. The XC90 Excellence also offers handmade crystal glasses made by a leading Swedish company. The interior is therefore an opulent and decadent place to be.
The Volvo XC90 T8 Excellence is priced at Rs.1.25 crore (ex-showroom Delhi). It is one of the most expensive cars to roll out of the Swedish stables. But it is also a rather responsible car. With the T8 hybrid system, the SUV is far more efficient than its gas-guzzling rivals and also packs a punch in the performance front. Its distinct styling and ultra-high safety standards set it apart from its German and British rivals. We hope to give you a comprehensive review of this Swedish behemoth soon.
